by the way ~/.wakatime.cfg exists
is this a bug or is plugin incompatible with the latest processing version?

Research direction

Reproduce the failure in Processing 4.5.5 with the Hackatime plugin and inspect WakatimeTool.java at line 35, where the stack trace reports the null reference. Check how the existing ~/.wakatime.cfg is handled; done means selecting the plugin from Tools no longer raises this NullPointerException and the expected API-key flow works.
