Description

Hey guys! Excellent initiative!

I was recently shopping for a home security solution and was very disappointed about the privacy protections offered by most IP cameras, which appear to phone-home back to China. Not good!

So, using an Android phone as home security solution seems like a perfect bet.

Has there been any consideration to supporting the ONVIF spec, or in some way allowing me to stream video to a self-hosted (or Guardian-but-still-privacy-respecting) server? I don't _just_ want notifications, I also want to have off-site video evidence of events (and the time before events occur).

Thanks again for this work!

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by clarifying whether ONVIF support or streaming to a self-hosted server is required, along with the target protocol and event behavior. Done would require an agreed scope and an implementation plan for sending video before and after detected events.
