Description
The sport desk are interested in the possibility of creating a "golden boot" page for the Premier League. This would be similar in principle to the golden boot articles that we sometimes do for major tournaments[^1]. However, those are one-off pieces, whereas the proposal for this would be a long-running "data" page, similar to those we do for tables, fixtures and so on:
- https://www.theguardian.com/football/fixtures
- https://www.theguardian.com/football/results
We may need an initial spike to investigate whether this is possible. We should have the data required to generate it, and MAPI already contains some golden boot code that could serve as the foundation. We'll also need to figure out whether there's a single, unified solution that can be used across dotcom and apps, or whether separate implementations will be require.
The request came via CP, so we should involve them in any discussions. We should also discuss the presentation of the page with Design.

Research direction
Start by reviewing the existing golden boot code in MAPI and the linked tables, fixtures, and results pages. The investigation is complete when it establishes whether the data is sufficient, whether dotcom and apps can share an implementation, and what presentation work CP and Design need to decide.
