Make selected columns persist after opening a modal

I wanted to know if there was a way to make selected columns (columns that have display set to false, but users have selected in viewColumns icon) persist after clicking on a row element, which in turn opens a modal. When the modal opens, you can see the selected columns disappear in the background.
