Phone number under profile section not editable

Describe the bug
Phone number under profile information is not updatable altho the edit functionality is provided under the profile page

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

Go to 'profile'
Click on 'phone number >> edit'
3.See error
Expected behavior
Alerts for success or failure must be prompted

Start by reproducing the phone-number edit flow from the profile page in Chrome and inspect the request it makes. Trace that request through the backend's profile update entry point; done means the phone number can be saved and the profile shows a clear success or failure alert.
