@ 1000 wght - Should double f and double t spacing resolve in a similar way - or not?

I am seeing that double t maintains a very small gap seemingly no matter what but double f does not maintain the same standard gap. Actually with f sometimes there is a gap and sometimes not. I wonder if they should match. I am inclined to guess 'yes'.
