screen saver not working

I loaded the latest update within a few hours of release. Today I noticed the screen saver was not working. This happened the last time I took an update. Last time it worked after a few days and I decided to try and figure out what I did. I exercised the settings in Setup->Detailed Setup->General->Screen Saver Options->Configure. Once modified then modified back the screen saver worked.

Start by reproducing the problem through Setup->Detailed Setup->General->Screen Saver Options->Configure after an update, then compare behavior before and after changing the settings and changing them back. Done means the screen saver activates normally after updating without requiring a manual settings change.
