Precomputed annotation and scale level

Hi, for the precomputed annotation, is there a way to specify different annotations for different scale levels (similar to the datasource precomputed format)? I would like to render a large number of annotations, but the highest resolution annotations will only need to be loaded when the user zooms in. Alternatively, is there a way to get the current scale level from the Python API? Thank you!
