Description

**Description:**

The [Tangut font](https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Serif+Tangut) has a longstanding issue where several additional characters were mistakenly encoded in the font. These include common Chinese characters such as "一" (one), "体" (body), and "夏" (summer). This leads to incorrect text rendering and has already been fixed upstream. However, Google Fonts, as a downstream distributor, has not yet incorporated this fix. As a result, the font available from Google Fonts—and by extension, many Linux distributions that package it—still includes this issue.

See notofonts/tangut#2 for more details about the issue and its resolution.

**Note**: The latest release version in the Tangut repository **does not** contain this fix. To obtain a version of the font without this issue, it is necessary to build it directly from the source.

**Impact**

Many Linux distributions (i.e. archlinux-based) package fonts directly from the Noto Fonts project, including the Tangut font. This leads to common CJK characters being rendered using the Tangut font, resulting in a visually inconsistent and fragmented experience.

Specifically, without additional configuration, systems with Noto Fonts installed may display most CJK characters using sans-serif fonts, while the mistakenly included characters are rendered with a serif style from the Tangut font. This disrupts the visual harmony and consistency of text rendering across the system.
