Defective fonts

The character set of Quicksand https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Quicksand provided under the download link from Google Fonts is defective and leads to major problems in printing.

This is completely unexpected for us, because we assumed that the font supplied by Google Fonts is usable.

This is a modified version which is unfortunately not suitable for printed products because the correct vector-specific fonts for exposure are missing in every typeface. The errors of the font only become apparent with ripped/exposable data and corresponding output devices or when the characters are converted into paths in the graphics program:


However, Quicksand has been developed with an open source license, so modifications are possible (even allowed); and in this case Google Fonts is only available as such.

Quicksand was originally drawn in four weights: Light, Regular, Medium and Bold (Source: https://github.com/andrew-paglinawan/QuicksandFamily).

The complete font family is available via the Adobe Creative Cloud, which provides the font without flaws.

The use of your Google Font Quicksand has led to great problems and a lot of trouble with our customer. We would like to rule that out in the future, hence our questions:

1. Why do you provide incomplete fonts?

2. Are you able to do quality control to determine whether a font is available with perfect quality?

3. If a font is not appropriate for print, could you provide a warning for such?
