Description
Three of the bold weights of Saira have incorrect Font Family names in their OpenType 'name' tables. This causes problems in many Windows applications, for instance MS Word. The variants in question are:
1. "Saira Condensed Bold" (SairaCondensed-Bold.ttf) has a Font Family field of "Saira Condensed Condensed". This should be "Saira Condensed", the same as that of the corresponding Regular weight.
2. "Saira ExtraCondensed Bold" (SairaExtraCondensed-Bold.ttf) has a Font Family field of "Saira ExtraCondensed ExCond". This should be "Saira ExtraCondensed", the same as that of the corresponding Regular weight.
3. "Saira SemiCondensed Bold" (SairaSemiCondensed-Bold.ttf) has a Font Family field of "Saira SemiCondensed SemiCond". This should be "Saira SemiCondensed", the same as that of the corresponding Regular weight.
Symptoms of these incorrect fields are:
1. MS Word treats these bold weights as independent typefaces and lists them on its font menu with the nonsensical family names given in their Font Family fields, i.e., "Saira Condensed Condensed", "Saira ExtraCondensed ExCond" and "Saira SemiCondensed SemiCond" respectively.
2. Switching on the "Bold" button in Word while "Saira Condensed" (Regular) is applied causes a synthetically generated bold weight to be shown whose optical weight is only around that of "Saira Condensed Medium". The same applies to using the Bold button with the Regular weights of "Saira ExtraCondensed" and "Saira SemiCondensed".
