Description

**Font Project Git Repo URL:** https://github.com/smelllikeruh/ruh-font

**Release:** [RUH Regular 1.102](https://github.com/smelllikeruh/ruh-font/releases/tag/v1.102), tagged source commit `db078fbef19d5f536447f30e9d309517b7eea70f`. The exact application-menu family is **RUH**; the style is **Regular** (400).

RUH is a Latin display typeface developed for RŪḤ, a fragrance atelier in New Orleans. It combines high-contrast serif strokes, open counters and restrained editorial proportions for concise brand and venue headlines. One static Regular style is supplied, with 351 encoded characters and 365 glyphs.

This is a **preliminary inclusion and naming-exception request**. The open font/source release is authorized and published. The separate human copyright-authority/full-family/maintenance declarations and contributor-agreement coverage remain pending; the unchecked items below are deliberately not attested to by an automated assistant. This issue was prepared and posted with Codex assistance at the project owner's request.

**AI process disclosure:** Midjourney provided initial headline art direction; GPT Image produced coordinated raster letterform studies. A Codex-assisted FontTools/UFO workflow traced and normalized selected forms, with constructed vector geometry for supporting characters and corrections, plus explicit kerning, mark attachment and numeral engineering. The project does not claim entirely hand-drawn forms or exclusive human authorship of generated forms. The final editable UFO and build code are public; see [AI-PROVENANCE.md](https://github.com/smelllikeruh/ruh-font/blob/v1.102/documentation/AI-PROVENANCE.md).

**Requirements and present status:**

- [x] The current font software project and editable sources are public under OFL 1.1.
- [ ] The appropriate human still needs to confirm the template's declaration concerning every related retail/pro/plus edition.
- [x] Editable UFO sources, build scripts and pinned dependencies are included.
- [ ] The template's sole-author or other-author rights representation has not been made on the owner's behalf. AI use is disclosed above.
- [x] The release license declares no Reserved Font Names.
- [x] The recorded Fontdata search found no exact RUH match. Similar partial matches were present. This is a bounded database observation, not trademark clearance.
- [ ] The owner expressly chose **RUH**. The normal abbreviated/all-capital name rule is not met; an exception is requested below.
- [x] All 319 encoded GF Latin Core characters in the tested glyphsets 1.1.0 definition are present.
- [x] The repository includes `sources/`, format-separated `fonts/`, `documentation/`, authors/contributors, OFL, requirements and a build/check workflow.
- [ ] Complete contributing-requirements agreement/compliance remains pending the owner and onboarding review, including the name exception and documented warnings.
- [ ] The owner's future repository-maintenance and onboarding commitment has not been independently confirmed in the required declaration.

**Naming exception requested:** Please consider the exact uppercase family **RUH**, selected by the project owner for the brand's signature face. The app-menu name is definitive. The full FontBakery profile reports `googlefonts/family_name_compliance` with diagnostic `abbreviation`; this failure is retained and is not treated as an approved exception. [Naming search and policy record](https://github.com/smelllikeruh/ruh-font/blob/v1.102/documentation/name-screening.md).

**Technical evidence:**

- Canonical source: `sources/RUH.ufo`; the open FontTools production build is distinct from the separately tested standard fontmake compatibility path.
- TTF, OTF and WOFF2 pass local OpenType Sanitizer and preserve the reviewed outlines, metrics and shaping. The [hosted Linux run on the tagged source commit](https://github.com/smelllikeruh/ruh-font/actions/runs/34024776572) passed exact committed-byte reproduction and release metadata checks. The initial optional serializer dependency was corrected without changing the released binaries.
- Full FontBakery Google Fonts binary profile: **112 PASS, 8 WARN, 8 INFO, 107 SKIP, 1 FAIL, 0 ERROR**. The only failure is the naming check above. All applicable OFL/copyright/name-license checks pass. Warnings and conditional skips remain review items; catalog metadata/article completion is not claimed.
- [Independent QA](https://github.com/smelllikeruh/ruh-font/blob/v1.102/documentation/RUH-1.102-INDEPENDENT-QA.md), [full FontBakery report](https://github.com/smelllikeruh/ruh-font/blob/v1.102/documentation/RUH-1.102-FontBakery-GoogleFonts.json), [rebuild record](https://github.com/smelllikeruh/ruh-font/blob/v1.102/documentation/reproducible-build.json).

**Contributor agreement:** No Google CLA has been accepted by the assistant. The appropriate human must review and complete any required agreement before contribution acceptance.

We request guidance on the RUH naming exception and the remaining onboarding items. This issue is not a claim of catalog acceptance or an assertion that the unchecked declarations are already satisfied.

Research direction

Start with documentation/name-screening.md and the tagged v1.102 release records, then review the unchecked onboarding declarations and the recorded FontBakery abbreviation failure. The issue is complete only when maintainers provide guidance on the RUH naming exception and the remaining human confirmations; no implementation file or test is identified.
