Font metrics are needed to automatically place labels

There is currently no way to write functions to automatically place labels next to parts of a drawing. Also, right-justifying and left-justifying text works only with monospaced fonts, and only after tweaking it manually. Student projects, such as invoices and diagrams would benefit from some extra support to place lettering more accurately without having to do it manually every time.
