per-column scaling is going to mislead/confuse people

I would be ok with any of

- dropping the per-column scaling, sticking with one scale per page.
- making per-column scaling something you can turn on and off
- adding *some* kind of hint to the user so they know the scales are different.

I'm not super ok with doing nothing, because I just think it's too weird for a
big bar on the left to represent less time than a small bar on the right.
