autofdo compatibility based on gcc / llvm version

hello,
Take gcc as an example. The sample_merge and create_gcov tools rely on gcc to compile and generate. Can the above tools compiled with a higher version of gcc be applied to a binary generated by a lower version of gcc? Have you tested compatibility?
