Are there any current examples of playing audio in the background using a foreground service?

I would like to experiment with updating my offline audio player (https://github.com/EricTerrell/EBTMusicPlayer) to use ExoPlayer.

Are there any examples or articles about how to use ExoPlayer with a foreground service? Having an article that shows how to set up the foreground service, notifications, etc. would avoid a lot of wasted time and frustration.

A codelab on this topic would be ideal!

All I've found are videos and articles that are years old, and probably full of deprecations.
