mport project broken on HPS platform

Description
While working on #533 I found out that `mport` project isn't working on HPS platform.
1. `Project menu -> exercise cfu op0` fails:

2. Benchmarks (e.g. strided loads benchmark) cause system to hang after printing message `Running [...] benchmark`
Tested with freshly installed conda environment and current `main` HEAD (d67c3b98d9e0a5fa2c612ee3bc771c3a6c787ce9).
