Description

## Category consolidation

Requested by Joel Z. Leibo in [issue #373](https://github.com/google-deepmind/concordia/issues/373#issuecomment-5621250114). This is the single continuing issue for this category. Implementation and subsequent improvements stay in [PR #372](https://github.com/google-deepmind/concordia/pull/372). Approved PRs #297, #302, #304 and #332 are exempt and remain unchanged.

## Scope

- Include the complete three-watch game, explicit inventory/consent/repair accounting, private observations and grounded dawn accounts.
- Retain independent human roles, host-approved browser sessions, single-player mode, phone-sized layouts, optional local voice and editable visual-note drafts.
- Preserve trusted researcher recipes, the standard alternative-engine council example, public accounts and accessible provenance-bearing figures.
- Keep literal/scoped drafts, native focus, delayed-submission handling, honest failures/stopped states, confirmed-receipt waiting and fresh-snapshot reconnect gating.
- Retain all example-specific regressions and demonstrations of the shared editor/CLI operations.

Reusable server/editor/CLI code is reviewed in #314; reusable prefab/model/checkpoint changes in #356; the HumanSession transport helper in #306; approved human-control APIs in #302/#304. This category intentionally does not duplicate those unapproved categories' production files. Checkout of this category alone requires its documented dependencies; the combined validation branch supplies an immediately testable integration. Full A–H showcase, arbitrary continuation/branch experiments and physical Android validation are not claimed.

Superseded issues and PRs retain their original descriptions and point here. Consolidation closes duplicate review threads, not claims that pending code has landed upstream.

## Follow-up improvements — 2026-09-13

Added local received-journal text search with audience/watch filters, literal Unicode matching, live-update preservation, counts and clear controls. No search request or game action is sent. Role revocation clears retained filters and private entries; the one-turn slice offers text search only because it has no audience/watch metadata. Documentation no longer requires a particular resident LLM or an unexplained historical “original”. The example type is BellwetherIslandCoordinator; persisted role/API IDs remain unchanged.

Research direction

Start with the documented dependencies and the combined validated checkout, then review the referenced server/editor/CLI code, HumanSession transport helper, and approved human-control APIs. Done would require validating the full listed Bellwether, multiplayer, researcher, editor, CLI, and reconnect behavior while preserving the stated exclusions and regressions.
