In this figure

should the elements of u, v and w matrices be actual values of a, b and m; instead of 1, -1 ?
as an example in below image, should (0,0)th element in u matrix be 'a1' as pointed by green arrow in the below image?
if you can clarify this that will be great. Thank you.
