Description

### Value Prop
GitHub Copilot is updating its model lineup on August 31, 2026 to keep you on the most capable and actively supported AI models available. Six older models will be retired, with newer alternatives ready to take their place — offering improved performance across coding, chat, and agent workflows. A 30-day advance notice gives you and your team time to review any workflows or integrations that reference specific models and update them before the change takes effect.

### Expected Outcome
By consolidating the Copilot model portfolio around newer, higher-quality models, you get a simpler, more consistent experience without having to navigate deprecated or lower-priority options. The migration guidance and notice period are designed to make the transition smooth, so your integrations and model policies continue working without disruption.
