Description

Describe the bug

Assisted permissions mode stops working after approximately 1 hour, to get it working again i need to start a new session.

Affected version

GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.83

Steps to reproduce the behavior
  • start a session and use /permissions assisted
  • It works fine for approximately an hour
  • Then it seems to flip back to manual
    • run /permissions assisted, it says: Auto approval is now enabled. Permission requests will include an LLM safety recommendation. Permission requests will still be shown
    • run /permissions manual and then /permissions assisted, it says: Couldn't enable auto approval. It may be unavailable in this session or disabled by policy.
  • To get it working again, restart Copilot CLI
Expected behavior

Auto approval should work for the duration of the session, as long as it's not disabled by the user.

Additional context

MacOS: 26.6.2
