Description

We have files named foo.libsonnet which are (in our case) valid json and we want sops to handle them as json files.

We currently workaround this by always setting --input-type=json --output-type=json but it would be great to define a mapping of file extension to format in the .sops.yaml configuration file.

Research direction

Start by reading the .sops.yaml configuration handling and the paths that parse --input-type and --output-type. Define how file-extension mappings should be configured and applied, then verify that .libsonnet files can use the json format without requiring those flags.
