Description

Hello

I created a passphrase protected key age-keygen | age -p > key.age but when using this file in SOPS_AGE_KEY_FILE to decrypt the encrypted file it doesn't work as it is expecting private keys in plaintext.

It's a know issue or is there a workaround it?

Thank you

Research direction

Start by reproducing the reported age-keygen | age -p > key.age workflow with SOPS_AGE_KEY_FILE and compare it with plaintext private-key handling. Trace how the key file is read and decrypted; done means passphrase-protected age keys either work or the supported limitation and workaround are documented.
