Reason for removal

Redshift was long ago the de facto package for adjusting the color temperature on the screen based on location/time of day.

Nowadays it is completely abandoned upstream. It has been 8 years since the last commit according to the github repository.

It doesn't work well out-of-the-box because it initializes trying to connect to servers that aren't there anymore.

There is a package in the repository that substitutes it 1 to 1 in features and was last updated in march 2025. There's no need for the redshift to be present in the Solus repository.

The homepage which is mentioned in the package.yml is not even about the redshift app anymore.

Asking for the removal of this package.

Research direction

Review the redshift package's package.yml and the linked upstream archival issue first; confirm the package is abandoned and note the repository replacement mentioned in the request. Done means removing redshift from the Solus package repository and verifying the repository no longer references it.
