Gender* - not possible to write the "*" - it always changes to italic.. any ideas?

I use the * a lot for the content of my website. But unfortunately it always changes into italic. Any ideas, how to solve this problem that the * is shown behind a word without getting italic?

The issue names no file, test, or entry point. First reproduce the behavior in the Grav Admin content editor with a literal asterisk after a word; done means the asterisk is displayed without unexpectedly applying italic formatting.
