Description
Browsing some of the builds here I remembered something: there exists a product space referred to as "Structured Media Enclosures". They are usually similar to an electrical breaker panel, but for telecomm wiring and designed to mount in a wall cavity (although surface mount boxes exist as well). Here is an example:

Looks pretty similar to some of the builds here doesn't it?
The panels have standard spaced holes and the modules have captive pins that click into these holes.
I don't know what/where the standard is documented, but from what I have read the products are compatible across brands.
I have seen products from [Leviton](https://leviton.com/products/residential/networking/structured-media-centers), [Legrand](https://www.legrand.us/audio-visual/structured-wiring-enclosures/c/lgnd011400) (OnQ brand), and [DataComm](https://datacommelectronics.com/products/?e-filter-f1b6230-product_cat=structured-media-enclosures-home-command-centers).
Maybe with some 3D printed adapters these modules could be used in a mini-rack in cases where that was interesting?
Or at the very least it's a good source of ideas.
