Find the perfect mini rack monitor

I have a few cheap 7" monitors, most of which are in use for AV monitors for my cameras; they are also often used on digital microscopes.

For some mini rack builds, having a monitor 'integrated' into the rack (optionally attached to a KVM, if you have multiple computers in the rack) would be incredible.


For 19" racks, there exist [1U pull-out monitors](https://amzn.to/3Pyyvgn). And for 10" racks like the DeskPi RackMate, there's enough space between the handles on the top where you could permanently mount a monitor. I was thinking about that when I saw [this build on Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/minilab/comments/1i1khmx/no_more_stretching_the_6ft_vga_cable_to_the_tv/).

I can think of two solutions that would be useful—if you can spare the top 1U, you could have a pull-out 3D printed mount that lets you slide the monitor out from the rack, then angle it up. This may require custom rails as well, but it would be really cool to have one (if only for the memes).

More practically, you could 3D print a foldable kickstand on the top (maybe using tension between the handles up top, or screwed through the top acrylic), and have the monitor lay flat when not in use, but be able to be opened up, either as if it were a laptop monitor, or angling up from the front edge.
