Description
I've been inspired a lot by a few videos on youtube and have been planning to build a tiny homelab for a while now.
At first I thought about making yet another modular rack or use one of the existing ones. But then I wanted this case to be as easy to print and assemble as possible, so I decided to design the whole case as one single piece and without supports.
It is still a work in progress and I want to add some more optional mount points on the side and top. I've also designed some simple trays for my old Raspberries, a switch and a DIY patch panel.
The complete thing will be made open source once it's done.

It's a pretty open design, since it will probably only have passively cooled components:

## Software
Currently the only thing running on the pi 3 is a docker container with pihole. I plan on adding another pi (4/5) or similar single board computer. Things I want to add in the future:
- NAS (bottom slot)
- Nextcloud
- paperless-ngx
- vaultwarden
- immich
- jellyfin
I might print a second rack for another room and put some services there.
## Printing
I've printed the rack with a 0.8mm Nozzle and used 540g of PLA, the print took a bit over 9 hours
The print failed twice because it would warp too much and lose grip. The third attempt with the textured PEI and a brim worked without any warping. I have also broken up some of the straight lines in the first ~30 layers by adding little indents, which helps releasing some of the tension when the filament is cooling.
I plan to print the final version with a 0.4mm nozzle, which should take ~18.5h and ~480g of filament.
The whole thing is pretty sturdy and won't wobble or flex much when applying a decent amount of force.
The trays are all pretty basic but fit pretty good and are stable enough.
