Description

I needed a minirack and for som reason I decided to build it instead of spending less money and buying it from a retailer. The wood on the left is wider to make the door get less in teh way when working and convieniently makes more space for power supplies and power railes on that side.
I am going to run it with and without the backing when I get done putting equipment in it to see if it helps noticeably with noise. (An update is that it helps but its a wooden box with 2+ 1 kilo spinning disk in it, its going to make noise...)
This is using
Eket Tall https://www.ikea.com/dk/da/p/eket-skab-med-lage-og-1-hylde-hvid-90333938/
Ikea eket wood feet https://www.ikea.com/dk/da/p/eket-ben-trae-80474151/
Adam hall rack rail 14U https://www.soundstorexl.dk/products/112807-adam-hall-61535-b-kraftig-rack-skinne-sort?variant=52149404598595
Also I had a Noctua NF-A20 200mm leftover from another project so we are running this negative pressure now.
3 90W power supplies for lenovo.
Also from my update using:
This neat 3d print for side by side 3.5 inch HDDs https://www.printables.com/model/1290788-10-inch-rack-1u-2-x-35-inch-hdd-hot-swap
and the gear he recommends for that

For actual computing power I have 3 mini pcs and a one of those nas motherboards that have been in the zeitgeist: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0DN1TZGSP
This one comes with a nvme extender board that shares a shelf with my psu.

Do not recommend for costsaving in EU I could get a decent 9U rack for the price of the cabinet and legs. Was fun though, its jank but its my jank. Notes for other people attempting the same project: The push to open mechanism needs quite a bit of space in front so either put the rack futher back than me (7 centimeters ish) or prepare to make space in the wood/3d printed spacer for it.
Thats where my current Tall Eket project stands, there is a space in the center where a raspberry pi project never went so for now its just space for expansion.
Also still haven't found a decent mini rack 2.5 switch with more than 8 ports.
