I came across two projects performing the same task :
- https://github.com/lonekorean/highlight-within-textarea
- https://github.com/marexandre/jquery.textarea-highlighter.js
They seems to be more robust than this plugin. Well it's been a while since I started jquery-highlighttextarea, perhaps browser support is better now.
