Checklist style feature

Particularly for running courses, having a checklist features (have you logged onto Slack; have you joined the training queue, etc.) that remembers for each student would be really helpful.

No files, tests, or entry points are identified in the issue. First clarify how courses are represented, where checklist state should be stored for each student, and what a completed checklist should look like before locating the relevant implementation and defining acceptance criteria.
