Description

Hello Galaxy team, and hi Nate,

I am writing about the PyPI project `starforge`
(https://pypi.org/project/starforge/).

I maintain an unrelated open-source project that is also named StarForge
(LLM post-training / experiment platform). We currently publish as
`starforge-core` (https://pypi.org/project/starforge-core/) with the
import package `starforge`. We would like to use the unadorned PyPI name
`starforge` if you are willing to transfer it.

From what we can tell, the Galaxy Starforge package has been superseded:

- The GitHub README marks the project DEPRECATED in favour of wheelforge
(https://github.com/galaxyproject/starforge)
- The last PyPI release was 0.3.6 on 2018-04-25
- We do not want to continue or fork Galaxy Starforge; this would be a
different project reusing only the vacant name

Would you be willing to transfer PyPI ownership of `starforge` to my
PyPI account `aidenlu`? I am happy to:

- keep a note on the project page pointing old Galaxy users to wheelforge
- wait on any process you prefer (add-collaborator then transfer, etc.)

If you would rather keep the name, that is completely fine — I mainly
wanted to ask before assuming it was unavailable.

Thank you for your time,
Aiden

Research direction

Review the repository README marked DEPRECATED and the PyPI project history, including release 0.3.6 from 2018-04-25, then confirm the relationship to wheelforge. The request is complete when the maintainer decides whether to transfer the `starforge` PyPI name to `aidenlu` or retain it.
