Description

discussed briefly in the mon call, a few things i thought worth making an issue over. at this piont the issue is meant to facilitate discussion, can make sub-issues once we decide what to actually do about anything. some things to ponder, and file sub-issues for:

1. right now we dont check for these in the qc report or anything like we do the ucsc resources. ive been merging the new organism prs once the qc report looked good, but that means we merge without knowing the status of galaxy indices. so far weve had few enough organisms and users it seemed not a major concern, but as we get more of both of those things we should probably be more careful about potential breakage. maybe that means getting these in the qc report, though that means getting those prs merged will take even longer and were already at weeks.. so maybe some general process issues here to contemplate also.
2. marius points out we cant build galaxy indices for all organisms for all time. i dont understand the implications there enough to comment in any depth, so ill let him. things that would be helpful in that regard: better understanding of why this is a problem, its impact to galaxy and brc users and what possible paths we have to rectifying the situation.
