today on the brc call it was suggested that we might be able to at least partially automate the process for adding support for additional organisms to the brc analytics site. right now the process is basically that someone such as myself adds a list of desired genbank or refseq accessions to a yaml file in this repo. example here https://github.com/galaxyproject/brc-analytics/pull/387. then that someone needs to let ucsc folks know we need these assemblies added to the brc hub, and then once that is done needs to coordinate building of various indexes for use in galaxy workflows.
the suggestion was that we could have an automated way for ucsc folks to check a specific location/ file maybe once weekly for needed assemblies. thatd be great, but i think only partially solves the problem, since there are downstream steps to this process as well. im hoping this issue can serve as a place for relevant parties to communicate their degree of interest in this task, and their needs if we pursue it, any other thoughts/ comments/ ideas they may have, etc.
