Description
Like wandb, comet, etc. But what do we do with a potentially large volume of data? It shouldn't all go into the commit message, realistically. We could put it into `git notes`, and then put summary statistics in the commit message?

Research direction
The issue does not name files, tests, or an implementation entry point. First clarify how incremental logging should handle large data, including what belongs in git notes versus the commit message, then define completion criteria before implementation.
