Plugins as Extensions?

Hi,

Sorry if this is out of left field, but is there any guide on how we can make plugins that are available on flathub that extend the functionality of quodlibet as optional installs?

For example, I originally upstreamed a thumb up/down plugin, but I now think it would be wiser to maintain these (and possibly more non-core) extensions in their own repository for easier maintenance. On the flip side, it seems like installing plugins could be / should be made easier for flatpak users as flatpak has an extension system that seems ideal for this.

Has anyone experimented with this yet? Is it technically possible and are there any guides on how this can be done?
