Avicii Invector stuck at looping background

**Problem description**
The initial intro level plays fine when first starting the game, but after the menu loads selecting either Singleplayer or Multiplayer leaves a looping background. The controls lock up and the only way to exit is to end the process.

**Does this issue reproduce with native Steam**
No, tested with native Steam and it works just fine.
