Magic The Gathering Arena: Error Updating Data: Please Check Your Connection

**Problem description**
The game was downloaded from the steam library. When I clicked on the PLAY button, still on steam window, it downloaded some extra content, when finished and was about to start it silently crash and steam's PLAY button reappears.

I've changed the compatibility tools to PROTON 8 and when it finally start I get a Magic Arena splash screen with the following text: "Error updating data: please check your connection and try again".

Key fact:

I've a good WORKING internet connection.
I've already tried changing the DNS and disabling IPv6 (as suggested in other places)
I've already tried changing the compatibility tools (forcing proton 8, etc.)
