Description
The newer packaging method allows for reusing the included icon and the application metainfo files provided with the release. Problem is that the provided application metainfo file in the release is a little bit outdated — so it would be nice if that could be taken care at some point [as part of the official release process](https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/AppData/#_app_data_validate_usage).
I know that creates a little bit of work initially because the current pipeline might need to add another step to create and validate the application metainfo file, but on the other hand there is no need to replicate this process with any other format — more likely Flatpak and Snap.
If/When that's done, the Flatpak manifest can be then updated to just read that file, and the copy maintained here can be removed.

Research direction
Start with the official release process and the current Flatpak manifest, then review the Fedora AppData validation guidance linked in the issue. Done means the release pipeline creates and validates an up-to-date application metainfo file, the Flatpak manifest reuses it, and the maintained duplicate can be removed.
