Description

Description

When entering fullscreen mode (via F11 or video playback on any website), Chrome automatically exits fullscreen mode after 1–2 seconds. This started happening about 2 weeks ago (it was working properly before).

Steps to Reproduce
  1. Launch Chrome (Flatpak).
  2. Enter fullscreen mode on any video or press F11.
  3. Wait ~1 second.
  4. The browser automatically drops out of fullscreen mode.
Environment
  • OS: Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS
  • Desktop Environment: COSMIC
  • Flatpak Version: 1.16.6
  • Chrome Flatpak Version: 131.0.6778.108-1
  • Runtime: org.freedesktop.Platform/x86_64/25.08
Additional Context / Troubleshooting
  • Tested running Chrome with native Wayland flags (--enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland), but the issue persists.
  • Tested forcing X11 backend (--ozone-platform=x11), but the issue still occurs.

Research direction

No project file or test is named. Start by reproducing with the Chrome Flatpak on Pop!_OS 24.04 COSMIC using F11 and video fullscreen, then compare the native Wayland and forced X11 launch modes described in the issue. Done means identifying a reproducible cause and confirming that fullscreen remains active for both entry methods.
