Description

# Hestia Storage Provenance and Compliance Boundary Toolkit

## Project Description

Hestia is a local-first, fail-closed proof and compliance toolkit that helps builders distinguish unpaid IPFS distribution from paid storage-provider evidence, package decentralized web provenance, and produce replayable validation reports for Filecoin/IPFS-aligned workflows.

## Problem

Builders often confuse local IPFS participation, pinning, provenance, paid storage deals, and client-paid storage services. That ambiguity creates false revenue assumptions, weak grant evidence, and unsafe operator/payment claims.

## Proposed Solution

Deliver an open-source validation report and proof surface that classifies storage routes, records provenance artifacts, attaches IP/authorship evidence, and defines receipt fields for real Filecoin/storage-provider deals or client-paid services.

## Requested Funding

$2,500

## Milestones

### M1: Validation report and storage boundary package

- Funding: $2,500
- Acceptance criteria: Generated JSON/MD/HTML artifacts for storage reward boundary, recipient activation, and Filecoin grant proposal packet.

## Filecoin Ecosystem Fit

- supports decentralized storage and IPFS/Filecoin provenance education
- improves builder tooling and compliance-safe grant evidence
- helps storage-adjacent teams avoid mislabeling unpaid IPFS peering as paid rewards
- produces MIT/Apache-2.0 dual-license readiness requirements for submission

## Deliverables

- Storage reward boundary report and public proof page
- Filecoin/IPFS provenance validation checklist
- Money request and payment safety packet
- Validation-to-paid-pilot bridge appendix
- Open-source repo/package readiness memo including MIT + Apache-2.0 delta

## License

- MIT root license present: true
- Apache-2.0 companion present: true
- Dual-license declaration present: true
- Trademark policy present: true
- Status: DUAL_LICENSE_DECLARATION_READY_OWNER_REVIEW_REQUIRED

## Evidence Artifacts

- Recipient activation packet: docs/generated/hestia-recipient-activation-packet.md
- Payment access packet: docs/generated/hestia-payment-access-packet.md
- IP inventory: docs/generated/hestia-ip-property-inventory.md
- Authorship bond: docs/generated/hestia-authorship-bond.md
- Brand and CLA protection: docs/generated/hestia-brand-cla-protection.md

## Safety Boundary

This packet prepares a Filecoin grant-style proposal. It does not submit the proposal, claim Filecoin endorsement, guarantee funding, or create payment without external acceptance.

Research direction

Review the proposed deliverables and the evidence paths under docs/generated/, especially the storage reward boundary, recipient activation, and payment access packets. The stated completion target is a validation package with JSON, Markdown, and HTML artifacts covering the storage boundary, recipient activation, and Filecoin grant proposal packet; no implementation entry point is specified.
