# Project Summary

NodoVault is a decentralized, blockchain-secured video storage platform designed for everyday consumers. It replaces expensive corporate cloud subscriptions from Ring and Arlo — which cost $30/month — with affordable, private, tamper-proof storage on the Filecoin network for $6.99/month.

Users own their footage. No corporation can access, sell, or delete it. Every video clip is encrypted client-side, stored on Filecoin, and timestamped immutably on the Avalanche blockchain — creating a permanent, verifiable record the user controls.

NodoVault targets the tens of millions of home security camera owners and dash cam users who refuse to pay expensive monthly cloud fees, leaving their cameras recording nothing. The platform also integrates Claude AI to generate smart motion descriptions, daily summaries, and automated incident reports — making it significantly more intelligent than existing corporate alternatives.

## Impact

Ring and Arlo dominate the home security camera market but lock users into expensive, privacy-invasive cloud subscriptions. Amazon owns Ring and Google owns Nest — two of the world's largest data collectors now control the most intimate footage of people's homes. Ring charges $10-$30/month per camera, Arlo charges $12.99-$29.99/month, and millions of cameras sit unused because owners refuse the subscription fee.

Filecoin provides the exact infrastructure needed to solve this problem — decentralized, verifiable, permanent storage at a fraction of centralized cloud costs. However, no consumer-friendly application currently bridges Filecoin's powerful storage network with the everyday home security camera market. NodoVault fills this gap.

If this project succeeds, Filecoin gains millions of everyday consumer users who will never need to understand the underlying technology — they simply pay $6.99/month and their footage is stored privately and permanently. Failure to build this means the home security market remains entirely controlled by Amazon and Google, with no decentralized alternative for privacy-conscious consumers.

## Outcomes

NodoVault will deliver a fully functional decentralized video storage platform with the following features:

- RTSP camera integration supporting Reolink, Wyze, Hikvision, and all open-standard cameras
- AES-256 client-side encryption before any footage leaves the user's network
- Filecoin/IPFS storage pipeline for all video footage
- Avalanche C-Chain timestamping for tamper-proof immutable records
- Claude AI integration for smart motion descriptions, daily summaries, and incident reports
- React Native mobile app for iOS and Android
- Simple $6.99/month subscription via Stripe — no crypto knowledge required
- Beta launch with 50 real users within 8 weeks
- Full open source release under MIT/Apache-2 dual license

Success is measured by: number of active users, total Filecoin storage onboarded per month, and user retention rate above 80%.

## Data Onboarding

- Month 1: ~1-3 TB (beta users — 50 cameras)
- Month 3: ~30-60 TB (100 paying subscribers)
- Month 6: ~300-600 TB (1,000 subscribers)
- Month 12: ~3-6 PB (10,000 subscribers)

## Adoption, Reach, and Growth Strategies

Target audience: Privacy-conscious home camera owners currently paying $0/month because they refuse Ring/Arlo's $30/month subscription. Ring alone has sold 10 million+ devices. Arlo has millions more. A significant percentage do not subscribe due to cost — representing millions of cameras recording nothing.

First 10 users: Personal network, local community, direct outreach to privacy-focused Reddit communities (r/privacy, r/homeautomation, r/Reolink).

First 100 users: Product Hunt launch, Reddit communities, partnerships with open camera brands like Reolink and Wyze.

First 1,000 users: Referral program (refer a friend = 1 month free for both), insurance company partnerships for tamper-proof claims processing, expansion into dash cam market.

## Maintenance and Upgrade Plans

NodoVault is built as a long-term business generating $6.99/month recurring revenue per user. Ongoing maintenance is funded directly by subscription revenue. Planned upgrades include dash cam support (Month 4), fleet/B2B features (Month 6), insurance company integrations (Month 12), and Japan market expansion (Year 2). The open source RTSP-to-Filecoin pipeline will be maintained as a public good for the broader ecosystem.

NodoVault represents a unique opportunity for Filecoin — a consumer application that will bring millions of everyday users to the network without them ever needing to understand decentralized storage. The home security camera market is massive, underserved from a privacy perspective, and ready for a $6.99/month alternative to Amazon and Google's $30/month surveillance infrastructure.

Thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing this application. I am committed to building NodoVault and bringing real consumer adoption to the Filecoin ecosystem. I welcome any questions or feedback.
