Description
This will be useful for doing codim-1 in 3D domains, e.g. pipes and spheres. As noted by @RemDelaporteMathurin the co-dimensional formulation is currently cartesian-only

Research direction
Start by tracing the current co-dimensional formulation and identify where it assumes cartesian-only meshes. Confirm how manifold meshes are represented, then define completion around supporting codim-1 calculations in 3D domains such as pipes and spheres.
