Extracting "whole, part, sub-part" masks with SamAutomaticMaskGenerator

I have some trouble figuring out how to extract the masks for the whole, part, sub-part of objects (as shown in figures 3 and 4 of the paper).

This was also asked in #144 but it was not answered.

Can you please explain how to do this?
