TypeError: Cannot convert undefined value to object

I'm having a hard time figuring out what could be the true source of this issue (babel or relay). I'm trying to set up my react-native app to fetch its first graphql query with relay and it's successfully doing so. I've confirmed this by console logging the response in the RelayEnvironment fetch function. However, somewhere after that, the app crashes with this error:
