Description

{rlang}'s standalone checks were recently included here and should be added to all functions. It would also be useful to wrap them in rextendr functions to always include the rextendr_error class. Doing this would also allow us to remove isTRUE() and similar from all if() statements.

Research direction

Start by locating the recently included {rlang} standalone checks and the functions that currently use isTRUE() or similar conditions. Determine how checks should be wrapped in rextendr functions and how the rextendr_error class should be applied; done means all relevant functions use the shared checks consistently and existing behavior remains covered.
