Formatter randomly stops working

For a few days now I have been running into an issue where formatting on save randomly stops working. It works fine for some time and then suddenly it no longer works. Manually invoking the formatter through VS Code (Shift+Alt+F) results in this log message:

>2026-07-30 09:50:29.277 [info] [Error - 9:50:29 AM] Formatter failed :no_formatter

I assume this was introduced in #804.

IDE: Visual Studio Code (1.131.0)
Installation method: VS Code Extension store
Expert version: nightly (currently 77a6e74)
OS: Windows with WSL (project and VS code running in WSL)
OTP / Elixir version: 28.3.1 / 1.19.5 installed with ASDF

Start by reviewing the suspected change in #804 and the open pull request #880, then reproduce the issue through VS Code's formatter command in the WSL setup described here. Done means formatting remains available after running for a while and the formatter no longer reports `:no_formatter`.
