Data Managers meeting discussion point #1: variableMeasured

**Proposed issue n. 1**

The DCAT-AP metadata standard does not currently provide an interface to express information equivalent to the Science-on-schema.org ’s field `variableMeasured`. If a workaround that wouldn’t invalidate the standard isn’t available, it follows that the field can’t be required as mandatory, as this would pose a hypothetical DCAT user to an unsatisfiable standard.

**Proposed solution**

The `variableMeasured` field will be shifted from mandatory to recommended.

Currently any type of variable is accepted as a value not allowing predictable reference when harvesting and classifying the metadata.

**Proposed solution**
Introduce a controlled vocabulary for the subfield `url ` and a reference to the allowed variables to allow consistent classification of the data.
