Description

**Describe the problem you have/What new integration you would like**

I see BT5.0 chips on AliExpress, such as the BK6988, and it makes me wonder whether these chips could be used in conjunction with an ESP to create a BT 5.0 equivalent of the current BLE tracker/sniffer. ...one which would enable presence detection for mobile phones and such.

**Please describe your use case for this integration and alternatives you've tried:**

I use Room Assistant and it seems to be working ok, but I like the idea of such a feature for ESPHome.

**Additional context**

I think this would be really neat.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the feature request and its references to ESP, BT 5.0 chips such as BK6988, and the existing BLE tracker/sniffer. Investigate whether an ESP-based implementation could provide mobile-phone presence detection comparable to Room Assistant. Done should include a defined hardware and integration scope, supported use case, and acceptance criteria.
