points3D and quiver3D examples not working

Description
I've tried these examples from the online documentation. This is in Jupyter and from standalone scripts in linux (same conda environment), and in Jupyter in windows. I never get a window or an error message. The mesh demo works fine.
System details:
mayavi 4.7.2
python 3.7.9
windows 10 or linux kernel 5.9.16 (manjaro)
